The City Island Community Center (CICC) is a not-for-profit organization run entirely by volunteers dedicated to maintaining a clean, open space for the use of local residents. We offer a great place to take classes, give classes, hold meetings, run free clubs and socialize. Open Monthly Meetings of the Board are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center Main Room. All members are encouraged to attend.
The mission of the City Island Oyster Reef is to restore a balanced ecosystem in the western end of Long Island Sound by creating reefs of shells that will attract other species, improve water quality, and minimize storm surges, and to work with like-minded organizations to provide scientific data and educational programs for the City Island community.
I have been using this information as a hook to involve City Island residents and we are developing a viable working group for a clean and healthy river. We have Annual Shoreline Clean Ups. Learn more at http://www.hutchinsonriverrestorationproject.org/
Through the medium of dance, music, theater, and storytelling, One World Arts provides workshops, school residencies, lectures, seminars, concerts and performances to the community at large.
