City Island Celebrates National Clam Chowder Day!

On Wednesday, February 25, National Clam Chowder Day, the City Island Chamber of Commerce recognized winners of last September’s Chamber Clam Chowder Contest with a visit to deliver a commemorative plaque.

Maria Caruso of the Chamber’s Board presented plaques to:

  • Tony’s Pier Restaurant (1 City Island Avenue, Bronx, NY) – First Place, New England Clam Chowder
  • Sammy’s Fish Box (41 City Island Avenue, Bronx, NY) – Second Place, New England Clam Chowder
  • The Original Crab Shanty (361 City Island Avenue, Bronx, NY) – Second Place, Manhattan Clam Chowder

First Place for Manhattan Clam Chowder went to Anne Booth Catering of the Harlem Yacht Club; they will get their plaque when the restaurant is open there this weekend.

The Original Crab Shanty | 2nd Place, Manhattan Clam Chowder
