Growing up, Richard Rosen thought his dentist had a great job. “People respected him, looked up to him,” he told the City Island Chamber of Commerce. Now Dr. Richard Rosen has been practicing dentistry for two decades. He is City Island’s new dentist, having bought the practice from longtime City Island dentist Jed Berman around Thanksgiving of 2023, a dental office with a more than 70 year history.
The City Island office is part of NYC Dental, which has 11 locations in New York City, as well as Yonkers, Peekskill and Long Island. Having done undergraduate studies at Tulane University in New Orleans, he graduated NYU College of Dentistry in 2003.
His office offers all basic dental services – check ups, cleanings, fillings, crowns, etc. They also do dentures, full and partial, as well as implants, veneers, and Invisalign®. There is also an oral surgeon on staff who comes to the office monthly. Dr. Rosen has brought new equipment to the office, like a digital scanner (iTero) for impressions. He suggests calling the office to check on insurance coverage. 
Married to Lauren Rosen, a Second Grade school teacher in New York City, the couple live in Manhattan. He welcomes City Islanders and off-Islanders to the office – some from Dr. Berman’s days, as well as new patients.
“I like helping people in trouble,” Dr. Rosen explains. “People come in at times in pain and in tears, and leave in tears for a different reason – pleased with the service and the results.”
City Islander Jackie Ciarletta agrees. “I love seeing people so happy after a visit here,” she says. Staffing the front desk, Jackie started at the office in 2016 , following a corporate post in New York City. “Dr. Rosen is very generous,” she adds, citing his support of local events and efforts.
Jeanette Delaney, also an Islander, has been with the practice for 25 years, serving as an assistant, keeping instruments flowing, doing set ups and breakdowns of the room, among other tasks. “A good day,” she says, “is coming away with the feeling that you made someone happy about their smile.” And that feeling, she adds, usually happens on most days.
Cesarina Victorio has worked for NYC Dental for six years, two of those years on City Island. A dental assistant, she is a dentist from the Dominican Republic. “A good day is making people happy by changing their smile,” she explains. “Come in and we’ll help you,” she notes.
“We would love to work with everyone on City Island,” Dr. Rosen adds.
