Spotlight on The Pearl

Jun 12, 2024 | City Island News

Open on City Island less than two months, The Pearl (319 City Island Avenue) continues to welcome many each day for yoga and pilates, as well as for special events like Jazz Dance and Belly Dance Workshops.  Stopping by on Monday, May 20, was PIX 11 New York.  Featuring the fare available at our neighborhood movement studio, the crew also found a path to fitness along the way. Here’s one video from the PIX 11 visit.

Two weeks later, owner and founder of The Pearl, Wendy Yang Clark found herself at the studios of 1010 WINS Radio, as a finalist in the 1010 WINS $10K Small Business Challenge, sponsored by Dime Community Bank. Telling the story behind her movement studio on City Island and explaining what she hopes for the future, especially for community health and fitness, Wendy and The Pearl did not win, but, she said on social media, “BUT! It was a fantastic experience, and getting a tour of the radio station, hearing those iconic voices, and pitching live was a wild ride.” Read more about that experience in Wendy’s blog at this link.  Monica Yehle-Glick, City Island Chamber of Commerce Marketing Consultant, was there to cheer Wendy on.  Wendy shared that it was from one of the regular CICC emails that she learned of the 1010 WINS opportunity.

This business is “moving” right along… and we’re delighted it’s on City Island.
