And the winners of the City Island Chamber of Commerce Clam Chowder Contest (held September 10 despite the rainy weather!) are… from the people’s voice: #1 New England (white), Seashore Restaurant & Marina and #2 New England (white), Sammy’s Shrimp Box; #1 Manhattan (red), Anne Booth Catering at the Harlem Yacht Club, and #2 Manhattan (red), Sammy’s Fish Box.And our Councilwoman Marjorie Velazquez, who helped to support the contest, voted her personal choices as: #1 New England (white), Seashore Restaurant & Marina, and #2 New England (white), Arties Steak & Seafood; #1 Manhattan (red), City Island Diner, and #2 Manhattan (red), Anne Booth Catering at the Harlem Yacht Club.
Bravo to all the restaurants who entered, which also included Tony’s Pier Restaurant, Johnny’s Reef, and Crab Shanty. Any clam chowder on City Island is the BEST clam chowder!
